Hospital Trip #3 and some answers

Since our last hospital trip I have had increasingly worse pains in my back. I have also had ZERO appetite and have felt very nauseous anytime I eat anything. It's been pretty miserable. We went to the OB for our 35 week check up and after Erik spoke up she agreed to a renal ultrasound to make sure it wasn't my kidneys. The pain was so similar to when I had problems with my gallbladder that I didn't think it would be anything to do with my kidneys but we were happy to finally be doing something proactive. At work on Friday I almost passed out, I got really dizzy and lightheaded. After a coke and a granola bar I started feeling better. We had an awesome baby shower on Friday night which I will blog about later. But basically it was a REALLY long day. Saturday we didn't do much. We were planning on going into the city to watch the FSU game with the alumni club but I was just miserable. As the game got started I realized the pain was more than I could handle. I called the doctor who said to come in to Labor and Delivery. They hooked me up to the monitors and I was having some contractions but I was still only dilated to a 1 so they said they weren't too concerned about it. My blood pressure had been high all day but they said that could be related to the pain. They started up an IV and did some blood work. All the test came back normal. No infection anywhere that could be causing the pain. We went down for the renal ultrasound but the nurse had already said since there were no signs of infection it probably wouldn't show anything and they'd send us home. She started telling us about scar tissue and muscular-skeletal pain from how much weight I'm carrying around. I was starting to get irritated because she kept telling me to take some Tylenol. Listen lady... if Tylenol worked I wouldn't have made my husband bring me to the ER during an FSU game! It really seemed like she thought I was overreacting. Erik asked if that could cause all the trouble eating and nausea and somehow it turned into me being stressed and having anxiety and needing to do yoga. As I am about to cry because I still don't really feel like I've been taken seriously or have any answers the nurse came back in with the ultrasound results. It ends up that my kidneys (especially on the right) are swollen and although they didn't find any signs of infection or stones it looks as if the hydronephrosis (basically the uterus is putting pressure on the ureters causing fluid to back up into the kidneys making them swell) I had with Ashlyn is back. This time though instead of a surgery consult and pain meds they sent me home again saying to take Tylenol and drink more fluids. So although I am still in alot of pain I am very grateful to know what is going on and to also know that if I can make it through these next 3 weeks when Kinsey is born the pain will subside. I am 36 weeks today so in 3 weeks we will be holding our sweet girl!

Time for an Ashlyn update (33 months)

Ashlyn is so grown up now. She says things like "yes you may" and "I think so" and "um no thank you!" A few recent conversations with her...
Ashlyn: "Mommy lay down like a cat fish!"
Me: "What is a catfish?" Having no idea she had heard of a cat fish
Ashlyn: "Mommy! Its like a cat and like a fish! Silly Mommy!"

Me: "Ashlyn be nice to gram gram today ok?"
Ashlyn: "No prob!"
Me: "huh?"
Ashlyn: "You know NO PROBLEM!"

Me: "Your such a good girl"
Ashlyn: "Thanks Mommy! I love your compliments!"

Pulling into Dunkin Donuts
Ashlyn: "Are we getting coffee for gram gram?"
Me: "yep"
Ashlyn: "Mom, you know I like donuts like gram gram like coffee!"

Where does she get this stuff?

She's really into time concepts right now. Sometimes I'm shocked on some of them. Last week I told her tomorrow is a Daddy Day (daddy has Fridays off and always makes it a special day for Ashlyn) and she responded "Tomorrow is Friday!!!"
When she tells stories she says "I did that last week" or "yesterday." Its really cute.
Her loves:
She's really into babies again. She has gotten into her little people animals again and has been playing with them a lot.
She still really loves Dora and Diego but also loves Team Umizoomi and Bubble Guppies and is starting to want to watch a variety of shows.
She got the movie Rio last week and is really into it. We rented Dumbo which she likes as well. She's started to quote her movies and sing songs from them. Daddy and I have no idea what she's talking about and then she'll tell us "Blue says that on Rio" or it's a song from my Dino movie.
She likes to talk about her "best friends" but they change depending on the situation. Most of the time it's her friend Emily Rose at daycare but occasionally it's her friend Evan or another friend. She tells me kids she doesn't like at school because they are mean and what kids use "potty words" If you say something she deems a "bad word" she will tell you "Mommy! We no say that!" I've called her stinky face forever but now thats a potty word :o(.
She is getting really excited about her sister. She took a "Super Sister" class at the hospital last weekend. She learned all about being gentle, how to help mommy, and got a tour of the maternity floor. She got a little scared Saturday night because I had to go to the hospital and Gram Gram told her so she was a little worried and crying for Mommy. When I actually go in to have Kinsey (or if we have any other scares) we will have to just pretend its a regular sleepover with gram gram which she loves!
So that is Ashlyn at 33 months! How is my little girl almost 3!!! She is talkative, funny, attached to Mommy, inquisitive and adorable!

Hospital Visit #2

I almost wrote #1 but then I remembered we already took a trip to the ER at the beginning of this pregnancy. Last week was eventful. Wednesday night I was having a pain that started on the right side of my body and radiated around. It was coming and going but I thought I just did too much and blew it off. I tried to take a bath but that made me super nauseous. The next day at work it continued but became super intense so I called my OB and they had me come in to the office. I saw one of the PA's but of course by the time they hooked me up to the monitor it stopped. She checked me and said I was dilated externally but pretty intact internally whatever that means. Basically I understand it to mean that I am beginning to dilate but still am not thinning at all which results in only the external dilating?? She told me to take it easier and sent me back to work with instructions to call earlier next time.
Saturday night we were in the city watching the Seminoles play with the alumni club. I was having horrible stabbing pains in my right middle back. I blew it off again but after one of my friends suggested I time it I realized they were consistently 15 minutes apart and had been for quite some time. I started feeling very nauseous and having hot flashes as well. I called the doctor and they said come to the ER so they could check. She was a little nervous because it was a PA that had checked me and because of my history with Ashlyn. Of course we love the hospital we are delivering at for one reason because its close to home but of course here we were an hour away! Mom and Ashlyn were with us so we went to the ER and Mom took Ashlyn home.
I can't speak highly enough of our nurse we had. She was so calm, nice, and understanding and very knowledgeable. The doctor came in and checked me and I was dilated about a fingertip and she said there wasn't any difference externally vs. internally. So she wasn't sure did that mean that I was already a fingertip before or had I progressed some. Either way the contractions stopped and they let me go with instructions to come back if they got to be 5 min. apart and to follow up with the doctor this week. Of course as we were sitting outside the ER waiting for mom and Ashlyn to come back the contractions started again but they stayed pretty far apart.
I had really thought Kinsey would be the opposite of my pregnancy with Ashlyn and would stay in as long as possible. I have been having contractions on and off but they are still pretty far apart and stopping so hopefully I am not progressing at all. We will see when we go to the doctor on Thursday.
I looked up my blog from when I was pregnant with Ashlyn. I thought I started going into labor earlier with her but it ends up that my first bleeding/contractions with her was at 33 weeks as well and thats when they put me on bedrest. Everything prior to that was kidney trouble. So I guess Kinsey wants to be just like her big sister. I am not currently on bedrest I guess because I don't have the previa this time but we will see where this all goes! We really want to keep her in there are least a couple more weeks since Ashlyn was born at 36 weeks and she did awesome! We had 6 visits to the hospital counting when Ashlyn was born so lets see how many more Kinsey can get us!
